Jeonbuk Province to Hold 'Jeonbuk Science Festival' from October 17 to 19
Theme: "A World Moved by Science, A Future Opened by Technology"
Jeonbuk Province will hold the 19th Jeonbuk Science Festival at Jeonju University’s main stadium for three days from October 17 to 19.
According to the province on October 15, this event will serve as a science festival for residents and youth to enjoy together, under the theme “A World Moved by Science, A Future Opened by Technology.” More than 100 science experience booths, industrial exhibitions, youth contests, performances, and various other programs will be featured.
The province has moved the event to October and changed the venue from the Children’s Creativity Experience Center to Jeonju University, significantly expanding both the scale and accessibility, taking into account the summer heat and accessibility issues.
In particular, the number of experience booths will increase from 82 last year to 88 this year. The province has enhanced advanced science content linked to Jeonbuk’s five major industries-AI, secondary batteries, carbon materials, agricultural bio, and defense industry-so that residents can directly experience the potential of Jeonbuk’s future industries.
The event venue will feature the “Jeonbuk Core Industry Hall,” which will showcase advanced technologies developed through collaboration between companies and research institutes in each industry. There will also be a “Science and Technology Hall” filled with hands-on programs such as AI robot arm control, VR virtual reality, and drone piloting.
Youth participation programs are also drawing attention. Programs such as the “Physical AI Creative Science Exploration Team,” “Egg Drop Challenge,” and “Science Mic” are designed to help students develop scientific thinking and collaboration skills, and to present their ideas on stage.
Practice-oriented programs will include autonomous driving missions using LEGO robots and sensors, and experiments on kinetic energy. There will also be a wide range of science culture performances and experience programs for the whole family, such as bubble lab shows, science magic shows, mobile science vehicle exhibitions, and guerrilla events.
The province expects that this event will contribute to children’s creative growth and career exploration through science, and provide an opportunity for residents to enhance their understanding of and participation in science culture.
