Seongnam City to Establish "Manufacturing AI Solution Development Support Center" Equipped with Ultra-High-Performance GPU Infrastructure
Selected for MOTIE Project, Securing 11.5 Billion Won in National and Provincial Funding
Launching a Core Hub for K-Manufacturing AI Innovation
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor: Shin Sangjin) has been selected as the final recipient of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's "Industrial Innovation Infrastructure Construction Project" and will establish the "Manufacturing AI Solution Development Support Center" equipped with high-performance computing devices (GPUs). Through this project, Seongnam City is set to emerge as a leading city in artificial intelligence (AI) innovation for the K-manufacturing industry.

The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI) and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) will serve as the main institutions, with Seongnam City and Gyeonggi Province jointly participating.
The "Manufacturing AI Solution Development Support Center" is a national strategic hub project supporting the development of AI technologies based on manufacturing data and the AI transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies. Through this initiative, Seongnam City plans to connect the advanced industry ecosystem of Pangyo with the manufacturing base of Seongnam High-Tech Valley, establishing itself as a core hub leading innovation in Korea's manufacturing AI industry.
The center is scheduled to open this November within the Gyeonggi Business Growth Center in Sujeong-gu, and will later be expanded and relocated to the Pangyo Global Business Center. The project period runs from this year through December 2029, with plans to enhance efficiency and sustainability through phased expansion.
Currently, domestic small and medium-sized manufacturing companies are facing difficulties in AI transformation due to a lack of expensive GPU infrastructure and concerns over data leakage. The center is expected to address these limitations and serve as an "innovation catalyst," with the public sector facilitating technological innovation in the private sector.
The center will introduce NVIDIA’s H200-class ultra-high-performance computing infrastructure to develop "factory brain" technology for intelligent control of entire factories. In addition, by linking with the "AI Factory Project," the center will secure and open authentic manufacturing datasets for 12 major manufacturing sectors and develop a manufacturing-specialized foundation model (MFM) based on this data.
Seongnam City will establish a "Seongnam-Style Demand-Supply Matching Hub" to connect AI solution providers (in Pangyo) with manufacturing demand companies (in Seongnam High-Tech Valley, bioindustry, etc.), thereby creating a virtuous cycle ecosystem for AI innovation-ranging from data acquisition to solution development and business expansion.
Through these efforts, the city aims to simultaneously enhance the technological competitiveness of AI solution companies and the productivity of the manufacturing industry. Companies located in Seongnam City and Gyeonggi Province will be given priority support, with practical assistance such as providing manufacturing-specialized AI templates and training AI professionals with hands-on skills.
