"Come Taste Ginseng at Imjingak"... Paju Gaeseong Ginseng Festival to Be Held on October 18-19
Six-Year-Old Ginseng and a Variety of Experiences and Attractions Await
The Paju Gaeseong Ginseng Festival will be held for two days from October 18 to 19 at the Imjingak Tourist Site.
According to Paju City, this year’s festival has been planned to be more abundant than previous years, with a significant expansion of experience and food zones, as well as a diverse range of programs.
Now in its 20th year, the Paju Gaeseong Ginseng Festival is a signature agricultural event aimed at promoting and selling a variety of local agricultural specialties and processed products, including the six-year-old Paju Gaeseong ginseng, which is one of Paju’s representative crops along with rice and soybeans. Notably, all the ginseng featured in the festival is six years old, and its quality is strictly managed throughout the entire process-from cultivation and harvest to selection-under the supervision of public officials.
The most significant change for the 20th edition is the layout of the festival grounds. The experience and food zones have been greatly expanded to provide visitors with a more open atmosphere, and a variety of programs have been organized to ensure an enjoyable experience for all attendees.
On the morning of October 18, the 16th Paju Jangdan Sambaek National Cooking Contest will be held, where skilled chefs will compete with dishes themed around “Paju Jangdan Sambaek.” In the afternoon, the “Youth and Teenagers Open Mic Festival” will take place.
On the morning of October 19, there will be cultural performances by local arts groups, traditional Korean percussion performances (Pangut), and tightrope walking. In the afternoon, an auction will be held featuring ginseng that excels in weight, shape, and other categories, followed by a closing performance to entertain visitors.
