Securing 630 Million Won in National Funding
Buk-gu District in Gwangju has been selected for the "2026 Green Belt Resident Support Project" organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, securing 630 million won in national funding. The goal of this project is to improve an 8.6-kilometer forest trail in the Samgaksan-Gunwangbong area, providing residents with a pleasant walking environment and a safe space for relaxation.
According to Buk-gu District on October 14, the "Green Belt Resident Support Project" is an annual initiative by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to select and support local governments through a competitive process, aiming to alleviate inconveniences for residents living in green belt areas and enhance their quality of life. Buk-gu District applied with the "Green Connection Nuri-gil" project and was finally selected after a document review and on-site inspection.
The project will cover a total of 8.6 kilometers from Daeporibong in Samgaksan to Gunwangbong, and will include trail maintenance, installation of wooden stairs, reinforcement of safety ropes and fences, and the addition of convenience facilities. The details were determined based on complaints and civil petitions submitted by residents to the district office.

The total project cost is 700 million won, which includes 630 million won in national funding and local government funds. The project is scheduled to begin next year after the budget is allocated.
