Boosting the Local Economy and Expanding Daily Sports
Goryeong County (Governor Lee Namcheol) announced on October 14 that it will host the "2nd Goryeong Daegaya Cup National Park Golf Tournament" at the Daegaya Park Golf Course for five weeks, from October 13 to November 12.
This tournament is organized by the Goryeong County Sports Council (Chairman Kim Jongtae) and hosted by the Goryeong County Park Golf Association (President Kim Gwangsik). Around 2,000 park golf enthusiasts from 17 cities and provinces across the country are expected to participate and compete fiercely.
The Daegaya Park Golf Course, where the tournament will be held, has been certified as the 19th official course nationwide by the Korea Park Golf Association. It is highly regarded among park golfers nationwide for its high-quality course and beautiful scenery.
During the tournament, approximately 2,000 participants, including athletes and their families, are expected to stay in the region, boosting the local economy in sectors such as accommodation, food, and retail. In particular, the county plans to distribute local gift certificates to the athletes instead of providing lunch, encouraging them to dine at local restaurants and further invigorating the local economy.
A county official stated, "This tournament will provide real help to small business owners who are struggling due to the economic downturn."
Kim Gwangsik, President of the Goryeong County Park Golf Association, said, "I would like to thank all the athletes who have come from all over the country to participate. I hope this tournament will serve as an opportunity to showcase the strength and growth potential of park golf, which has become a leading sport for daily fitness. We will continue to create an environment where more enthusiasts can enjoy the sport together."
Lee Namcheol, Governor of Goryeong County, commented, "This tournament is a sports festival for daily fitness, jointly created by park golf enthusiasts from across the country and Goryeong County. I hope it will be an opportunity for participants to experience the unique charm of Goryeong. We will do our best to establish Goryeong as a hub for daily sports and sports tourism, including park golf."
