Spicy Flavor Festival to Be Held on Cheongchun Street in Cheongyang
A Unique Alley Festival Featuring Cheongyang Chili Peppers
Created Together by Merchants and Residents
Cheongyang in South Chungcheong Province is heating up once again. The "2025 Cheongyang Spicy Flavor Alley Festival" will be held from October 24 to 25 throughout Cheongchun Street in Cheongyang-eup, the county announced on October 14.
This festival, themed around the nationally renowned Cheongyang chili pepper, is a participatory local event where the entire alley transforms into a festival venue. It is a new type of local festival that brings together merchants, residents, and tourists alike.
A key feature of this festival is the direct participation of shops and small business owners from Cheongchun Street, the central commercial district of Cheongyang-eup, infusing new energy into the local area.
A wide variety of modern reinterpretations of spicy Cheongyang chili pepper foods and hands-on programs will be offered. At the "Spicy Flavor Alley Market," visitors can enjoy unique menu items such as chili pepper bread, chili pepper pizza, chili pepper ice cream, and chili pepper fritters, all made with Cheongyang chili peppers.
This culinary program, which creatively utilizes Cheongyang’s signature specialty products, goes beyond simple tastings and is operated as a win-win food project that enhances the value of local agricultural products.
In particular, the "Random Spicy Tteokbokki Party," where visitors can experience different levels of spiciness from Cheongyang chili peppers, allows participants to choose their preferred spice level or compete with friends. It is expected to become a popular spot for social media photos.
Additionally, photo zones, busking stages, and nighttime light shows will be set up throughout the street, further elevating the festival atmosphere.
Visitors who participate in the "Alley Stamp Tour" can complete missions at various shops to receive coupons, and a "Alley Coupon Event" will also be held onsite, offering a variety of prizes.
Other healing programs include a foot bath experience zone for families and a cooking class for children, making the festival enjoyable for people of all ages.
A county official stated, "The Spicy Flavor Alley Festival is more than just a food event; it is a resident-led festival that drives the recovery of Cheongyang’s commercial district and revitalizes the local economy. It will be a time to experience both the spiciness and the warmth of Cheongyang."
Meanwhile, early bird tickets can be reserved on the official Spicy Flavor Alley Festival website.
