Chungcheongnam-do Secures Selection for All Three Rural Space Improvement Projects, Obtains 6.3 Billion Won in National Funding
Boryeong, Nonsan, and Dangjin Districts Begin Full-Scale Efforts to Address Indiscriminate Development and Resolve Resident Conflicts
Accelerating the Creation of More Livable Rural Communities
Chungcheongnam-do announced that Boryeong, Nonsan, and Dangjin have been selected in the third round of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ Rural Space Improvement Project for this year.
With this achievement, the province has secured a total of 6.3 billion won in national funding and is expected to accelerate efforts to create more livable rural areas by demolishing hazardous facilities and improving residential environments.
On October 13, the province stated that all three cities within its jurisdiction-Boryeong (Uipyung District), Nonsan (Eumnae District), and Dangjin (Galsan District)-were selected in the third round of the “2025 Rural Space Improvement Project” organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, securing 6.3 billion won in national funding.
This project is a core government policy aimed at addressing indiscriminate development and the depopulation of rural areas, with the goal of restoring the functions of rural areas as places to live, work, and relax.
It also seeks to significantly improve residents’ living environments by relocating or renovating facilities that cause inconvenience, such as those generating odors, noise, or wastewater.
In the selected areas, livestock farms and abandoned factories-which have been major sources of conflict among residents-will be demolished, transforming these regions into pleasant and safe residential spaces.
The province has achieved this outcome by thoroughly investigating resident damages caused by hazardous facilities and meticulously refining improvement plans through expert consultations and on-site inspections.
