Governor Kim Orders Departments to Go All-Out in Securing Government Funds
"The Future of Chungnam Depends on the Budget"
With the first parliamentary audit under the Lee Jaemyung administration approaching, Kim Taeheum, Governor of Chungnam Province, has officially declared a "budget war."
Governor Kim stated, "If it is not reflected in the standing committee, the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts will not accept it either," urging the heads of departments, "Now is the decisive moment," and making it clear that there is no turning back.
At the 80th meeting of department heads held in the main conference room of the provincial government office on October 13, Governor Kim emphasized, "The government budget includes key projects that will determine the future of the province, so please make every effort to secure the necessary funds," calling for all departments to strengthen their response.
He further stressed, "We must also respond thoroughly to preliminary feasibility studies and public contest projects directly related to major pending issues," and added, "If it is not reflected at the standing committee stage, the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts will not accept it, so make sure it is included from the standing committee stage."
Governor Kim instructed, "For difficult matters, make active use of myself and the two vice governors," and directed, "We must launch an all-out effort to ensure that none of the province's key projects are left out, targeting both the central government and the political community."
Previously, at the 78th meeting of department heads in July, Governor Kim had also emphasized the need to secure budget allocations for "AI and semiconductor advanced technology industries" in connection with next year's government budget formulation, highlighting the importance of policy cooperation with the central government.
At the "2026 Government Budget Securing Strategy Briefing" held in February, the province set its target for next year's government budget at 12.3 trillion won, which is 1.3739 trillion won more than this year's final secured amount of 10.9261 trillion won.
