Paju City Improves Inconvenient Long Signal Cycles, Prioritizes Hanbit Village Area
Paju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on October 13 that it has prioritized the improvement of the traffic signal system in the small road sections around Unjeong Hanbit Village Complex 5 and Complexes 2 and 5, where long signal cycles during commuting hours had caused inconvenience.

This resulted in delays for right turns and longer queues, causing inconvenience for residents.
In response, the city reduced the signal cycle at intersections in front of the apartment complexes by 50 seconds, from 210 seconds to 160 seconds during commuting hours, and synchronized the left-turn signals with adjacent intersections to improve traffic flow efficiency. Additionally, at the intersection in front of Hanbit Elementary School, the pedestrian signal wait time during school commuting hours was shortened by 20 seconds, from 80 seconds to 60 seconds, enhancing pedestrian convenience as well.

Starting with these improvements around Hanbit Village, the city plans to utilize a smart intersection system capable of real-time traffic volume analysis to sequentially enhance major congested areas. This will include optimizing late-night flashing signal operations, shortening signal cycles, and refining the interconnection system between intersections.
