A Family of Four, Including a Couple in Their 40s and Their Teenage Children, Tragically Killed
A fire broke out late at night at a raw fish restaurant in Cheongpyeong-myeon, Gapyeong County, Gyeonggi Province, resulting in the deaths of a couple in their 40s and their two children.

View original imageAccording to the police and fire authorities on October 12, the fire occurred at around 11:19 p.m. on the previous day (October 11) at a raw fish restaurant in Cheongpyeong-myeon, Gapyeong County.
The fire consumed one building (with a total floor area of 171 square meters), causing property damage estimated at approximately 59 million won by the fire department. It was completely extinguished after 3 hours and 25 minutes, at 2:45 a.m. on this day.
Upon the outbreak of the fire, the fire authorities issued a Level 1 response, deploying 91 firefighters and 35 pieces of equipment to extinguish the blaze.
During this process, a family of four-a couple in their 40s, their high school-aged daughter, and middle school-aged son-who were in a room inside the restaurant, were found in cardiac arrest. They were transported to the hospital but all lost their lives.
The deceased couple were the operators of the restaurant. It was reported that they were inside the establishment because it was outside of business hours at the time.

The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
