Ulsan Jungbu Fire Station Urges Adherence to Battery Charging Safety Rules for Personal Mobility Devices
Strict Adherence to Safety Rules When Charging PM Batteries in Apartment Complexes
Ulsan Jungbu Fire Station has urged citizens to exercise particular caution, as the use of personal mobility devices (PM), such as electric scooters and electric bicycles, has surged recently. This warning aims to prevent fire hazards that may arise during the charging of lithium batteries.
Lithium batteries can cause fires or explosions due to overheating, damage, or impact during the charging process, making adherence to safety rules more important than ever.
In particular, in apartment complexes, where many households live in close proximity, a fire can result in significant casualties and property damage, so even greater vigilance is required.
Key safety rules for charging personal mobility devices include: ▲using genuine chargers suitable for the product ▲charging in well-ventilated areas ▲never leaving devices charging unattended while sleeping or away from home ▲adhering to the recommended charging time and disconnecting the power immediately when fully charged ▲immediately stopping charging if abnormal heat, odor, or smoke is detected ▲never using batteries that are damaged, have been dropped, or have been submerged in water ▲not charging near flammable materials ▲not charging in evacuation routes such as apartment hallways, stairways, or emergency exits ▲charging on fire-resistant surfaces when charging inside a unit ▲and keeping initial response equipment such as fire extinguishers nearby.
