A Year-Round Tourist Destination with Canola Flower Fields Planned for Next Spring
Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province anticipates that the Aster chrysanthemums and Pink Muhly at Nakdonggang Sports Park will reach their peak around the Chuseok holiday. The city has made thorough preparations so that both residents and visitors returning home for the holidays can create special memories amidst the picturesque scenery of flowers, the river, and sunsets.
The Aster chrysanthemums planted at Nakdonggang Sports Park cover a total area of 12,000 square meters (3,630 pyeong). They are characterized by their vivid colors, abundant blossoms, and long blooming period. The subtle fragrance and diverse hues of the chrysanthemums are expected to attract families and groups of visitors.
The 4,600 square meters (1,391 pyeong) of Pink Muhly, planted alongside the chrysanthemums, create a gentle pink wave under the autumn sunlight. The combination of swaying silver grass and the sunset at dusk has made the park a popular spot for social media photos, earning it recognition as "the best photo zone of autumn."

With large crowds expected, the city is also focusing on on-site management, including maintaining parking facilities and ensuring the cleanliness of restrooms. These efforts aim to provide a comfortable and safe experience for all citizens and visitors during the holiday period.
Following this autumn’s landscaping, the city plans to introduce a 16,000 square meter (4,840 pyeong) field of canola flowers next spring, positioning Nakdonggang Sports Park as a year-round destination for floral displays. The goal is to establish the park as a leading local tourist attraction by offering unique landscapes and experiences each season.
