From October 2 to October 9, SK Telecom will operate a special communication control center and monitor communication quality 24 hours a day in cooperation with its subsidiaries, including SK Broadband, SK O&S, and Home & Service, as well as affiliates such as SK AX. More than 12,000 personnel will be deployed during the holiday period.
Capacity upgrades for 5G and LTE base stations have already been completed at major locations nationwide, such as train stations, bus terminals, airports, tourist attractions, and memorial parks, where usage surges during the holidays. Sections of highways that are prone to heavy congestion have also been included in the intensive inspection list. In particular, on Chuseok day (October 6), data usage is expected to increase by about 19% compared to normal days, so pre-inspections and optimization work have already been completed.
For customer convenience, mobile video calls will be provided free of charge for seven days from October 3 to October 9. In anticipation of an increase in overseas travelers, international roaming traffic management has also been strengthened. SK Telecom expects international roaming usage during the holiday to increase by up to 30% compared to normal periods and has expanded cooperation with overseas relay operators.
SK Telecom is also taking thorough measures to strengthen cybersecurity. Through its integrated security control center, the company is monitoring for DDoS attacks and hacking attempts around the clock and is enhancing network analysis to ensure immediate response in the event of an incident.
