Kia Achieves Record Third-Quarter Sales... 260,000 Units Sold in September
Sportage, Seltos, and Sorento Lead the Way
Kia has recorded its highest-ever third-quarter sales performance since it began selling automobiles in 1962.
On October 1, Kia announced that it sold a total of 268,238 units in September, marking a 7.3% increase compared to the same period last year. This figure includes 49,001 units sold domestically and 218,782 units sold overseas. Compared to the same period last year, domestic sales rose by 28.5%, while overseas sales increased by 3.7%.
By model, the Sportage was the best-selling vehicle with 49,588 units sold, followed by the Seltos with 27,052 units and the Sorento with 20,393 units.
In the domestic market, the Sorento was the top seller with 8,978 units sold. Among passenger cars, the Ray sold 4,003 units, the K5 sold 3,127 units, and the K8 sold 2,159 units, totaling 12,354 units.
For recreational vehicles (RVs), a total of 32,610 units were sold, including 8,978 units of the Sorento, 6,758 units of the Carnival, 6,416 units of the Sportage, 4,965 units of the Seltos, 1,927 units of the EV3, and 1,322 units of the EV6. In the commercial vehicle segment, a total of 4,037 units were sold, with the Bongo III accounting for 3,228 units.
Overseas, the Sportage led sales with 43,172 units, followed by the Seltos with 22,087 units and the K3 (including K4) with 18,662 units. Special-purpose vehicles accounted for 455 units, with 200 sold domestically and 255 sold overseas.
Kia's third-quarter sales totaled 784,988 units, with 137,519 units sold domestically, 645,971 units sold overseas, and 1,498 special-purpose vehicles. The previous record was set in the third quarter of 2023, when Kia sold 778,213 units-133,772 domestically, 643,073 overseas, and 1,368 special-purpose vehicles.

A Kia representative stated, "Sales increased due to the base effect from last year's Chuseok holiday, and strong global demand for eco-friendly vehicles such as SUV hybrid models, EV3, and EV4 continued, resulting in the highest third-quarter sales ever. We plan to continue this sales growth by expanding our electric vehicle lineup, including the EV4, EV5, and PV5."
