ETRI and LG AI Research Institute Join Forces to Build the AI Ecosystem
The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) announced on October 1 that it had signed a business agreement with LG AI Research Institute to mutually cooperate on artificial intelligence (AI) data compliance and large language model (LLM) research and development.

View original imageUnder the agreement, the two organizations will collaborate on 'EXAONE NEXUS' for AI training data compliance verification, utilize 'EXAONE' for developing foundation models in public and specialized sectors such as networks, defense, bio, and energy, exchange open-source and AI-related technologies, and jointly identify research and development (R&D) projects.
A standing cooperation committee will be established to systematically manage the outcomes of their collaboration. In addition, they have agreed to conduct demonstration projects for applications in industry and the public sector.
This partnership aims not only to facilitate technical exchanges but also to consolidate domestic AI research and development capabilities to enhance global competitiveness.
Bang Seungchan, director of ETRI, stated, "Reliable data and the use of large-scale models are key to the advancement of AI. ETRI will strive to achieve innovative results in national strategic fields through cooperation with LG AI Research Institute."
