61% of Gyeonggi Residents View Governor Kim Dongyeon's Administration Positively
Six out of ten Gyeonggi Province residents gave a positive assessment of the provincial administration.
On October 1, Gyeonggi Province announced the results of a public opinion survey conducted from September 10 to 14 among 2,000 residents. The survey found that 61% of respondents rated the administration positively, while 22% gave a negative assessment.
Compared to the previous survey conducted in June on the third anniversary of the 8th popularly elected administration (58% positive, 27% negative), the positive rating increased by 3 percentage points, while the negative rating decreased by 5 percentage points.
When asked about policy areas that Gyeonggi Province should prioritize in the future, residents cited the following: livelihood economy (35%), welfare and care (26%), transportation (24%), youth (21%), housing (18%), and balanced development (18%). By region, demand for "livelihood economy" was highest in southern Gyeonggi (36%), while demand for "balanced development" (32%) and "transportation" (26%) was higher in northern Gyeonggi.
The survey also confirmed the high level of interest and expectations among residents of northern Gyeonggi regarding local issues. In a separate poll of 1,000 residents living in the northern region, 73% expressed interest in the "Gyeonggi Northern Great Development" project, and 79% said it would contribute to the development of the northern area.
The most anticipated benefit of the Gyeonggi Northern Great Development project was improvement of transportation infrastructure (60%). This was followed by attracting businesses and creating jobs (45%), as well as expanding living convenience facilities (45%). However, concerns were also raised about "wasteful spending due to unnecessary relocation of institutions and facility investments" (45%), "project delays due to lack of execution capability" (35%), and "environmental damage and unplanned development" (29%).

View original imageRegarding another key issue in the north, the development of land returned by the US military, 54% of respondents showed interest, which remained at just over half, but expectations were high at 68%.
In a survey of 1,000 residents in southern Gyeonggi, expectations for the "100 trillion won investment attraction" policy stood out. While only 29% were aware of the policy, 61% expressed interest, and 73% responded that it would contribute to job creation and revitalizing the local economy.
Kim Wonmyung, Director of Public Relations Planning for Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Through this survey, we have confirmed the growing positive evaluation of the provincial administration and the high level of interest and expectations for key projects such as the Gyeonggi Northern Great Development and the 100 trillion won investment attraction. Going forward, we will continue to focus our policy capabilities on the areas most needed by residents, such as the livelihood economy and balanced development, to deliver tangible results and strengthen communication."

This survey was conducted through telephone interviews using virtual mobile phone numbers with 2,000 residents of Gyeonggi Province aged 18 and older. The margin of error is ±2.2 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
