He added, "I hope that by creating a model of coexistence, more companies and fishing villages will be able to participate."
The Korea Economic Association plans to use this agreement as a foundation to combine the resources of fishing villages with the innovative capabilities of corporations, thereby revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs for young people through a practical cooperation system. In particular, the association will gradually promote various initiatives, including the discovery and sharing of fishing village resources, the development of customized business models for companies, corporate-fishing village matching and professional consulting support, the identification and promotion of best practices, the revitalization of youth, return-to-fishing-village, and local entrepreneurship, as well as joint campaigns and forums.
Additionally, the three organizations agreed to form a dedicated working council to ensure that this agreement leads to tangible results rather than remaining a mere declaration. The council plans to identify and implement specific projects through regular discussions, flexibly adjust the scope and duration of cooperation according to local conditions and corporate needs, and strengthen execution capabilities.
Jeon Jaesoo, Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, said, "Fishing villages are not merely recipients of support but partners in coexistence, creating new value together with corporations. With this agreement as a starting point, we will establish an institutional foundation and strengthen policy support so that fishing villages and corporations can continue a sustainable cooperative relationship."
