Fostering Next-Generation Leaders Based on the Saemaul Spirit
and Promoting Sustainable Development Cooperation with Developing Countries
On September 29 (Monday), the Saemaul Foundation (CEO Lee Youngseok) and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Overseas Advisory Committee (Chairman Seo Jungbae) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the "International Expansion of the Saemaul Movement and the Development of Young Global Leaders" at the Gyeongju Hilton Hotel.

View original imageThe signing ceremony was attended by the Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeongsangbuk-do, more than 100 members of the Overseas Advisory Committee, officials from the Saemaul Foundation, and executives and staff members from both organizations.
This agreement encompasses a wide range of collaborative areas, including: ▲ consulting and support for overseas Saemaul Movement projects utilizing the global network of overseas advisors; ▲ fostering global leadership among the Gyeongsangbuk-do youth diaspora and next-generation leaders; ▲ supporting children of employees from Gyeongsangbuk-do-funded and affiliated organizations who are studying abroad; and ▲ cooperation in promoting major projects and events of both organizations.
In particular, the establishment of a cooperative system based on the local networks of Gyeongsangbuk-do advisors who are active in countries around the world is expected to not only accelerate the international expansion of the Saemaul Movement, but also further strengthen friendly and cooperative relations between Gyeongsangbuk-do and developing countries.
Seo Jungbae, Chairman of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Overseas Advisory Committee, stated, "This agreement marks a new starting point for spreading the values and spirit of the Saemaul Movement worldwide by harnessing the capabilities of the global Gyeongsangbuk-do network. In particular, we will actively support young people so they can demonstrate leadership on the global stage."

Lee Youngseok, CEO of the Saemaul Foundation, also commented, "The combination of Gyeongsangbuk-do's global network and the Saemaul Foundation's experience in international development will create significant synergy, not only in cooperation with developing countries but also in strengthening the international capabilities of the younger generation.
