Gijang County in Busan to Foster Local Talent... Recruiting Scholarship Recipients for Second Half of the Year
October 1-31, Applications Accepted at Township and Town Administrative Welfare Centers
Gijang County (Governor Jeong Jongbok) will accept applications for the selection of Gijang County scholarship recipients for the second half of 2025 from October 1 to October 31.
In accordance with the "Gijang County Scholarship Fund Establishment and Operation Ordinance," the county recruits scholarship students twice a year, in the first and second half, to foster talent that will drive regional development.
For university students, the support amount can reach up to 2 million won per person within the self-paid tuition range, depending on academic excellence, welfare, number of children, and special talent categories. In addition, elementary, middle, and high school students can receive 500,000 won each in the special talent scholarship category.
To be eligible, as of the announcement date of September 25, either the applicant or their parent must have been continuously residing in Gijang County for at least one year according to the resident registration, and must meet the detailed criteria for each selection category.
Applications can be submitted in person at the township or town administrative welfare center corresponding to the address on the resident registration. The county will conduct a review of applicants in November, and the final selection will be made through the scholarship committee's deliberation in December.
Jeong Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, emphasized, "Scholarship support is not just about easing the burden of educational expenses, but a valuable investment in nurturing the talent that will be responsible for the future of Gijang County," adding, "I hope this will become an important foundation for the development of Gijang County through talent cultivation."
