KakaoTalk Finally Yields... Restores 'Friends List' as First Screen
Improvement Update Planned for Fourth Quarter
Feed-Style Friends Tab to Be Accessed via Separate "News" Menu
Kakao will restore the Friends tab, which recently became a source of controversy due to a redesign, to its original format.
On September 29, Kakao announced, "We will actively reflect user feedback on the latest version of KakaoTalk and proceed with improvements to the Friends tab," adding that the original "Friends List" will be reinstated as the first screen of the KakaoTalk Friends tab.
Kakao plans to implement these improvements to the Friends tab during the fourth quarter, taking into account development schedules. The current feed-style posts will be accessible through a separate "News" menu.
Kakao also plans to simplify procedures for protecting minors. On September 27, the company introduced a "Request for Minor Protection Measures" menu within the "Now Tab (Short-form)" and is currently reviewing additional measures to make application and settings even more convenient.
