Gwanak District Selected as Outstanding Institution for Rapid Execution by Ministry of the Interior and Safety for 8 Consecutive Years
The Only Autonomous District in Seoul to Achieve Consecutive Recognition
Gwanak District in Seoul (District Mayor Park Junhee) has been selected as an outstanding institution in the 2025 first half Local Finance Rapid Execution Evaluation, setting a record as the only autonomous district in Seoul to achieve this recognition for eight consecutive years. This evaluation, conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, comprehensively reviews the contribution of 243 local governments nationwide to stabilizing the livelihoods of citizens and revitalizing the local economy through early fiscal execution.
This year, the district executed 156.3 billion won in the first half, surpassing its target of 135.6 billion won and achieving an execution rate of 115.3%. In particular, 153.2 billion won was concentrated in consumption and investment sectors, actively promoting the revitalization of the stagnant local economy and earning high praise.
In this process, Gwanak District prioritized practical execution in areas directly related to residents’ livelihoods, such as local job creation, preemptive investment in social overhead capital (SOC), expanded support for small and medium-sized businesses, and revitalization of the local construction industry. The district also actively utilized special rapid execution measures, including emergency bidding, activation of advance payments, and shortening of contract review periods, to enhance efficiency.
The district strengthened collaboration among budget, expenditure, and business departments through the "Rapid Execution Task Force," led by the Deputy District Mayor, and continued strategic fiscal management by closely overseeing large-scale investment projects.
Over the past eight years, Gwanak District has been selected as an outstanding institution for rapid execution 13 times and has secured a total of 900 million won in incentives, including 40 million won obtained from this latest selection. These incentives are being reinvested in a virtuous cycle to support projects for economic recovery and stabilization of residents' livelihoods.
