Seongnam City Invites Fullerton Delegation to Seongnam Festival to Strengthen Friendship and Cooperation

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sangjin) announced on the 29th that it had officially invited a delegation from its international sister city, Fullerton, United States (headed by Mayor Fred Jung, total of five members), to the Seongnam Festival (September 19-28), where the two cities strengthened their friendship and cooperation.

View original imageOn the afternoon of the 28th at 4:30 p.m., Fullerton Mayor Fred Jung and his delegation visited Mayor Shin Sangjin in his office on the fourth floor of Seongnam City Hall, after which they attended the closing ceremony of the Seongnam Festival.

Earlier, the Fullerton delegation visited the Fourth Industrial Revolution Experience Zone within Tancheon, where they explored future industry technology exhibits such as artificial intelligence (AI) Go (Omok), quadruped robot operation, and drone simulators, directly witnessing Seongnam City's advanced industrial capabilities and citizen-oriented experiential content.
Mayor Shin Sangjin stated, "The Seongnam Festival is a future-oriented event that fuses culture and technology," adding, "It was very meaningful to share the finale with the Fullerton delegation."
He continued, "Let us continue to closely collaborate in the fields of culture and industry between our two cities."
Fullerton Mayor Fred Jung responded, "I was deeply impressed by the innovative Fourth Industrial Revolution technology experiences and the high-quality cultural performances showcased by Seongnam City," expressing his hope that active exchanges would lead to mutual development.
Fullerton, United States, which signed a sister city agreement with Seongnam in April 2023, is located in Orange County, Southern California.

Mayor Fred Jung of Fullerton was born in Korea in 1973 and immigrated to the United States at the age of five. He is a Korean American who became the first Korean to be elected both as a Fullerton city council member and as mayor.
