Ministry of Gender Equality and Family: "Real-Name Verification Disruptions in Childcare and Sex Offender Notification Services"
Aftermath of the Fire at the Daejeon National Information Resources Service
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced that, due to the fire at the Daejeon National Information Resources Service (NIRS), some supplementary functions processed through this facility are experiencing disruptions.
Specifically, services such as real-name verification and payment for membership registration on the Childcare Support System, resident registration number verification on the Sex Offender Notification e-Service, payment for sanitary product vouchers linked to the Haengbok-eum project, and online applications for youth card reissuance are currently restricted.
Immediately after the fire, the ministry activated an emergency response system and conducted a situation assessment led by the vice minister. On this day, Minister Won Minkyeong convened an emergency meeting.
The ministry is maintaining the emergency response system until recovery is complete and is providing updates on the main website and each relevant system.
Additionally, the ministry has switched the Childcare Support System’s real-name verification to a post-verification process and is requiring users to make payments via virtual account deposits.
For the Sex Offender Notification e-Service, users are being instructed to utilize alternative authentication methods such as mobile phone verification.
Since the sanitary product voucher and youth card reissuance applications are linked to the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Haengbok-eum and Bokjiro systems, the ministry is closely monitoring the recovery status.
Minister Won stated, "We will implement follow-up measures without delay until the relevant systems are normalized to minimize inconvenience for the public."
