Kim Dongyeon Agrees to Strengthen Cooperation with Jiangsu Province on Economy and Climate During China Trip
Gyeonggi Province is strengthening its cooperation with Jiangsu Province, China.
On September 27, Gyeonggi Province announced that Governor Kim Dongyeon had agreed to enhance cooperation in various fields, such as the economy and climate, during his meeting with Xin Changxing, Party Secretary of Jiangsu Province, on the 26th, which was the final event of his trip to China.
Previously, the two regions signed a friendship memorandum of understanding (MOU) at Dodamso in Suwon (the former governor’s residence) in June last year.
Xin Changxing, Party Secretary, who gave the opening remarks, said, "During the recent phone call between President Xi Jinping and President Lee Jaemyung, the two countries agreed to return to the original spirit of diplomatic ties and elevate the strategic cooperative partnership to a higher level. Since our leaders have set a clear direction, let us upgrade the exchanges between Jiangsu Province and Gyeonggi Province."

With President Lee Jaemyung’s inauguration, the foundation has been laid for a new chapter in Korea-China relations." He added, "Following the recent phone call between President Lee Jaemyung and President Xi Jinping, if the two leaders meet at the upcoming APEC Summit (in Gyeongju) this fall, it will serve as a positive and desirable turning point."
He emphasized, "Even during the difficult years, Gyeonggi Province has continued efforts to strengthen cooperation with both the central and local governments of China. The advancement of the partnership between Jiangsu Province, Korea’s number one investment and economic cooperation partner, and Gyeonggi Province, the heart of Korea’s economy, will serve as a good model for both countries."
