Krafton Discusses Policy and Business Cooperation with Indian Government
"Contributing to the Growth of India's Gaming Ecosystem"
Krafton announced on September 25 that the company has explored ways to expand future policy cooperation and business synergy with the Indian government.
According to Krafton, Murugan, the Indian Minister of Information and Broadcasting, visited Krafton's Seoul headquarters on September 24 and reaffirmed that India is a core strategic market for the company. Minister Murugan reportedly highlighted Krafton's contributions to the development of the local gaming industry through Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) and investments.
Krafton has invested over 200 million dollars (approximately 280 billion won) in the Indian startup ecosystem and has recently expanded partnerships with leading Indian companies, growing its brand ecosystem with BGMI at the center.
The meeting was attended by key Krafton executives, including CEO Kim Changhan and Son Hyunil, head of Krafton India. They discussed Krafton's success stories and growth potential in the Indian gaming market, the current status of startup investments, and the recent policy direction of the Indian government regarding the gaming industry. Minister Murugan expressed particular appreciation for Krafton's contributions to the Indian gaming industry and investments in the startup ecosystem, and shared expectations for educational and technological exchanges, as well as potential cooperation in the media and entertainment industries between the two countries.
