Yeongju Old Downtown Bathed in Moonlight, Special Chuseok Night Tour
Enjoy with Family, Couples, and Friends
To celebrate the Chuseok holiday, Yeongju’s old downtown will transform into a special nighttime travel destination under the moonlight. Yeongju City, together with the World Confucian Culture Foundation, will host the “Moonlight Reflected in Gwansagol, 2025 Yeongju Old Downtown Night Tour” for two days on October 4 and 5.
This event will feature performances, hands-on activities, tours, and nightscape appreciation programs that reinterpret Yeongju’s history and culture in a modern way. It has been organized as an urban festival where families, couples, and friends can stroll through the old downtown and enjoy the festivities together.
The night tour will start at Husaeng Market, pass through the Yeongju Korean Beef Charcoal Street, Modern History and Culture Street, the Gwansagol area, and the Halmae Tteokbang Village Center, and conclude at Buyongdae. Afterwards, participants can take a shuttle bus back to Husaeng Market, adding to the enjoyment of making a full circuit of the old downtown.
The tour will be held four times each day on October 4 and 5, starting at 6:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8:00 p.m., with 30 participants per session. Participants will be guided by a special tour guide dressed as a train conductor, who will share stories about the history and spaces of the old downtown as they walk together.
Main programs include moonlight busking performances, making train keyrings, tasting Korean beef wraps, exploring Gwan-sa No. 5 and Pungguk Jeongmiso, recycling experiences such as creating plant pots using empty bottles and making bags with fabric, and appreciating the night view at Buyongdae.
Reservations can be made through the World Confucian Culture Foundation website. Detailed information on the tour course and programs is available on the foundation’s website, Instagram, and by phone.
