Electric Passenger Car Subsidy Up to 8.8 Million Won
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor: Shin Sangjin) announced on the 25th that it will increase the number of eco-friendly vehicles, such as electric and hydrogen cars, eligible for citizen subsidies from the current 2,079 units by an additional 2,793 units, bringing the total to 4,872 vehicles.

The city has prepared a supplementary budget to secure the additional 19.1 billion won needed for the increased project costs.
This is because citizen interest in eco-friendly vehicles has risen, leaving only about 20% (400 units) of the originally planned supply of 2,079 vehicles for early this year still available as of now.
The additional 2,793 vehicles to be supplied consist of 2,463 electric passenger cars, 270 electric trucks, 20 hydrogen buses, and 40 hydrogen passenger cars.
Citizens who purchase these vehicles will receive subsidies according to the vehicle type.
For electric passenger cars, a subsidy of up to 8.8 million won will be provided; for electric trucks (based on small 1-ton models), up to 17 million won; and for hydrogen buses, up to 350 million won.
Hydrogen passenger cars will receive a fixed subsidy of 35 million won.
If a citizen aged 19 to 35 purchases an electric passenger car as their first-ever vehicle, an additional subsidy of 280,000 to 1.16 million won will be provided depending on the model, on top of the designated subsidy (2.33 million to 8.8 million won).
For households with multiple children purchasing an electric passenger car, additional subsidies will be provided based on the number of children: 1 million won for two children under 18, 2 million won for three, and 3 million won for four or more.
Subsidy applications can be made through the Ministry of Environment's Low-Emission Vehicle Subsidy Support System, and the subsidies will be granted in the order of vehicle delivery and registration after the application is submitted.
