Exploring Future Strategies for Holding Companies and Financial Institutions

The Korean Holding Companies Law Association and Democratic Party lawmaker Min Hongcheol announced on September 24 that they will host the '2025 Korean Holding Companies Law Association Fall Academic Seminar' to explore future strategies and institutional improvements for domestic financial companies.

The seminar, scheduled for 2 p.m. on September 26 at the National Assembly Library's small auditorium, will focus on key issues across the financial and industrial sectors, including: the future direction of Korea Development Bank, whether executives of financial companies can be held criminally liable for breach of trust, and the impact of recent amendments to the Commercial Act on holding companies and financial companies. The event is expected to serve as a platform for discussing response strategies to recent changes in the Commercial Act and shifts in the governance structure of financial companies.

The seminar will be chaired by Lee Gwangtaek, Professor Emeritus at Kookmin University. Presentations will be delivered by Park Seungdoo, President of the Korean Holding Companies Law Association; Moon Hanseong, attorney at Jeongryul Law Firm; and Park Suman, attorney at K-One Chamber Law Firm. Panelists will include Lee Dongheon, Ph.D., from the Korea Legal Management Research Institute, and Choi Seonggeun, Professor at Yeungnam University.

President Park Seungdoo stated, "The holding company system and the role of financial companies are crucial pillars of the national economy," adding, "This will be a meaningful opportunity for academia, industry, and policymakers to come together and seek solutions for the advancement of holding companies."
