Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province announced on September 24 that it held a campaign to eradicate prostitution and conducted map inspections under the theme "A Society Where Respect Shines, A Safe Daily Life Without Prostitution" in observance of the 2025 Prostitution Eradication Week (September 19-25).

View original imageThe campaign took place on September 22 at the plaza of Gyeonggi Gwangju Station, where the Illegal Filming Citizen Monitoring Group and the Sexual Violence Counseling Center under the CR Women's Association collaborated to engage subway users. The event included a true-or-false quiz to improve awareness about prostitution and the distribution of promotional leaflets, raising public vigilance about the eradication of prostitution.
From September 23 to 25, the city conducted focused inspections of 35 adult entertainment establishments in the area. The inspections checked for the posting of anti-prostitution notices as required by the Act on the Prevention of Prostitution and Protection of Victims, as well as any advertising or brokerage activities related to prostitution. The inspections were conducted with an emphasis on guidance and education.
An official from Gwangju City stated, "We will continue to regularly inspect industries at risk for prostitution and strive to eradicate prostitution. Moving forward, we will work in cooperation with relevant organizations to provide accurate information, raise public awareness, and create a safe daily life and a city where human rights are respected."
