Taebaek City Visits Gangwon Provincial Office to Secure Next Year's Provincial Funding... Proposes Key Pending Projects
Securing Funding for Regional Development
Taebaek City in Gangwon Province (Mayor Lee Sangho) announced on September 24 that on the previous day, Deputy Mayor Kim Donggyun and relevant officials visited the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Office to present key projects for 2026 and actively request provincial funding support.
The main proposals include: ▲Expansion of the Taebaek Bowling Stadium (1.43 billion won), ▲Establishment of a Special Educational Development Zone (3 billion won), ▲Improvement of the Bit·Muri Hajangseong Tourism Landscape (1.3 billion won), ▲Reinforcement of the Korea Safety Experience Center Soccer Field Facilities (1.23 billion won), ▲Replacement of artificial turf and renovation of old facilities at Gowon No.2 Stadium (580 million won), ▲Construction of three public parking lots (4.1 billion won), ▲Creation and management of forest roads and trails (880 million won), ▲Construction of a new water supply system in the Jotan District (950 million won), ▲Development of Yongyeon Cave as a tourist attraction (3.3 billion won), and ▲Establishment of a pine healing forest at City Hall (440 million won).
In addition, to prepare long-term drought countermeasures, the delegation visited the Water Quality Conservation Division and the Disaster and Safety Office in succession to strongly request support projects such as the installation of water supply pipelines and to explain the necessity of securing project conversion funds and special grants.
The city plans to continue visiting central government agencies and the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province to actively promote the necessity and justification of these projects and to secure stable funding sources.
