"Quantum Awareness Week" Hosted by the National Research Foundation of Korea
The Quantum Technology Division of the National Research Foundation of Korea held the "Quantum Awareness Week" event on the 23rd at the Convention Hall in Pyeonggyeok-dong, Daejeon, to facilitate communication among various quantum computer researchers.

View original imageThis four-day event, which began on the 22nd and runs through the 25th, was organized to identify key technological challenges in quantum computing and discuss possible solutions. Fourteen leading experts and heads of major domestic projects delivered presentations, while researchers, engineers, and policymakers from academia, industry, and research institutes-including the National Quantum Technology Strategy Center and the National Quantum Policy Center-attended to exchange information.
In particular, the event drew attention by presenting the challenges specific to various quantum computing platforms, such as superconducting, photonic, neutral atom, and semiconductor quantum dots. Through this, the National Research Foundation of Korea, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and nine technology consultative bodies plan to conduct in-depth discussions on supply chain technology classification systems and technology roadmaps, aiming to set priorities for future research and development.

Baek Seungwook, Head of the Quantum Technology Division at the National Research Foundation of Korea, stated, "The purpose of this event is to provide information to developers of various types of quantum computers." He expressed hope that these discussions would serve as a foundation for planning new research projects in the quantum field, as well as for identifying the top 10 core research areas and 30 major research topics in the future.
