"Jajangmyeon as a Cultural Asset"... Jajangmyeon Festival at Incheon Open Port Area on November 1-2
The Jajangmyeon Festival will be held in Incheon from November 1 to 2.
The Incheon city government announced on the 23rd that it will host the "1883 Incheon Jajangmyeon Festival" under the theme "THE Jajang, a Special Bowl That Started in Incheon," at Chinatown, Sangsang Platform, and the Open Port Area in Jung-gu, Incheon.
The "1883" in the festival's name refers to the year Incheon Port opened. Korean Jajangmyeon is believed to have originated in Incheon during the port opening era, when workers ate it as a simple meal.
The festival will feature an archive hall showcasing the history and stories of Jajangmyeon, a Jajang Kids Park, stage performances, experience booths and photo zones, hand-pulled noodle demonstrations, and a stamp tour.
Additionally, there will be a tasting corner for old-style Jajangmyeon from 1883, various Jajangmyeon events in Chinatown, and a special tasting corner where young chefs present creative Jajangmyeon dishes using Incheon's local specialties, offering unique experiences that span the past, present, and future.
There will also be additional spaces such as a "Refresh Zone," where visitors can relax while watching the sunset, and a "Picnic Zone," which recreates the atmosphere of a family picnic in autumn.
