Samsung Biologics Launches "Mindfulness Week" Programs
Programs Include Meditation, Psychological Counseling, and Special Lectures
Samsung Biologics announced that it has designated the five-day period from September 22 to 26 as "Mindfulness Week" and will operate a variety of programs to promote mental health.
Mindfulness Week was established for the first time this year in recognition of "World Suicide Prevention Day" on September 10, as well as "World Mental Health Day" and "Pregnant Women's Day" on October 10. Through this initiative, Samsung Biologics aims to raise awareness among employees about the importance of mental health and to further promote a culture of respect for life.
During Mindfulness Week, an exhibition will showcase "Emotion Monster Clay Works" created by employees themselves. This program is designed to help employees express various emotions using clay, thereby relieving stress and processing their feelings.
On the first day of the event, September 22, a "Mindfulness Support Day" event was held. Employees wrote messages of encouragement for themselves and their colleagues on sticky notes and attached them to a panel, allowing everyone to confirm mutual support and enhance their sense of belonging. On the second day, a "Gambling Addiction Prevention Campaign" will be conducted. Organized in collaboration with the Incheon Center for Gambling Prevention and Treatment, this campaign will include on-site surveys and consultations with experts to help prevent gambling addiction.
On September 24, a meditation program will be held for pregnant employees and those planning to become pregnant, aimed at supporting a healthy pregnancy. Participants will also receive a childbirth calendar. In addition, employees will be able to measure their stress levels and vascular age through pulse wave tests, and receive personalized guidance through counseling sessions.
A special lecture by a clinical psychology expert is also scheduled. On September 25, Lee Jooyoung, Director of Samsung Jium Psychological Counseling Center, will give a talk on "Healthy Sleep and Mental Health Management," introducing the importance of healthy sleep and ways to understand anxiety and worry for better mental health. On the final day, an "Alcohol Addiction Prevention Campaign" will take place, featuring surveys and counseling on alcohol addiction, as well as an experiential activity where participants wear goggles to simulate intoxication and cross stepping stones.
In addition, Samsung Biologics continues to provide various forms of support for employees' mental health management. The "Bio Mindfulness Counseling Center," established in 2018, is staffed by professional counselors who offer specialized psychological assessments and personalized counseling services. The company also supports couples counseling and comprehensive psychological assessments for children through partnerships with external counseling centers. Furthermore, ongoing "Gatekeeper" training is provided, and trained gatekeepers are actively engaged in fostering bonds among colleagues and conducting suicide prevention activities.
