National Police Agency Holds 4th International Counter-Terrorism Symposium
Over 200 Domestic and International Experts Attend
The National Police Agency announced on the 23rd that it held the 4th International Counter-Terrorism Symposium in collaboration with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and the Korea Military Academy, bringing together the public, private, and military sectors.
About 200 domestic and international counter-terrorism officials participated in this event, including Bang Seungchan, President of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute; So Hyungki, Superintendent of the Korea Military Academy; Lee Manjong, President of the Korean Association for Terrorism Studies; Kim Sangbae, Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Seoul National University; and Daniel Nurt, Ph.D., from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
The participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the latest trends and key issues, including the establishment of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based early warning system for terrorism, scientific and technological responses to weapons of mass destruction (WMD) such as chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats, and integrated response strategies to unconventional terrorist methods such as drones.
