Lighting Up the Beautiful Nightscape Along the Hongcheon Riverside
Hongcheon County in Gangwon Province has completed the installation of landscape lighting along approximately 317 meters of the Songhakjeonggyo plank bridge walking trail and has turned on the lights.

View original imageThis landscape lighting project was carried out as part of the 2024 landscape design competition, following the opening of a new 583-meter walking trail connecting Songhakjeonggyo and the existing riverside trail on August 14, 2024. Approximately 140 million won was invested in the landscape lighting for the plank bridge walking trail to provide local residents and tourists with a more pleasant and beautiful night view.
The walking trail features 52 firefly-themed lights, 55 step lights, and two art installations, creating a distinctive nighttime landscape. Additional step lights are currently planned, aiming to offer a safer and more comfortable walking environment both during the day and at night.
An official from the Urban Transportation Division of Hongcheon County stated, "This landscape lighting installation is part of our efforts to provide a better walking trail environment for local residents and tourists. We hope everyone will be captivated by the brightly shining Hongcheon River and the diverse beauty of Hongcheon."

The Songhakjeonggyo plank bridge walking trail begins at the deck (L=266m) located across from the Hongcheon Intercity Bus Terminal, following the Hongcheon River. After walking the plank bridge trail (L=317m), visitors will reach Songhakjeonggyo. Opened on August 13, 2024, Songhakjeonggyo is a pedestrian-only bridge connecting Yeonbong-ri in Hongcheon-eup and Songhakjeong (Mugunghwa Theme Park) in Hawhaegye-ri, Bukbang-myeon. It has quickly become a new landmark in Hongcheon, offering residents and tourists beautiful scenery, a pleasant place to stroll, and a sense of relaxation, safety, and comfort in everyday life.
