Yongsan District to Hold Refund and Discount Events at Traditional Markets for Chuseok
Onnuri Gift Certificate Refunds
Available at Yongmun, Huam, and Ichon Markets
Yongsan District in Seoul (District Mayor Park Heeyoung) will hold a variety of refund and discount events at three local traditional markets from September 29 to October 2, 2025, in celebration of the Chuseok holiday. The events are designed to revitalize the stagnant traditional markets and local commercial districts, as well as to ease the burden of high prices on residents' holiday shopping.
The participating markets are Yongsan Yongmun Market, Huam Market, and Ichon General Market, all of which will offer Onnuri gift certificate refunds for purchases exceeding a certain amount. At Yongsan Yongmun Market and Huam Market, customers can receive a 5,000-won refund for purchases of 30,000 won or more, and a 10,000-won refund for purchases of 50,000 won or more, from September 29 to October 1. At Ichon General Market, a 10,000-won refund will be given to customers who spend 60,000 won or more from September 30 to October 2.
Yongsan Yongmun Market will also hold a special event in cooperation with projects organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. From October 1 to 5, customers who purchase domestic agricultural, livestock, or marine products will receive a 10,000-won Onnuri gift certificate for purchases of 34,000 won or more, and a 20,000-won certificate for purchases of 67,000 won or more.
To facilitate online purchases from traditional markets, an online discount sales event is also being held through the "Nolleowayo Market" delivery app. Until October 13, a 30% discount coupon will be offered for packaging and parcel delivery orders.
The district has relaxed the criteria for designating alley-type shopping districts and newly designated four locations-Samseong Taemart in Wonhyo 2-dong, Royal Shopping Center in Ichon 1-dong, Haebangchon in Yongsan 2-ga-dong, and Sunheon Hwangguibi-gil in Cheongpa-dong-to boost the local commercial area alongside traditional markets. From September 24 to 26, the district will operate an event called “Staff Traditional Market and Shopping District Visiting Day,” with participation from all district offices, community centers, and the Facilities Management Corporation.
