Gyeonggi Fire Department to Inspect Hazardous Materials Safety Management at 1,658 Cosmetic Manufacturing Factories
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will conduct a "Special Safety Inspection on Hazardous Materials Management at Cosmetic Manufacturing Factories" from September 22, 2025, until the end of February 2026.
This inspection is a response to a series of recent hazardous material incidents at cosmetic manufacturing factories.
The inspection will cover 1,658 cosmetic manufacturing factories in the province. After prior notice, inspection teams consisting of two members will visit the sites directly to conduct the inspections.

View original imageThe main inspection items will focus on risk factors identified in recent incidents, including unauthorized handling of hazardous materials, laboratory safety management, waste disposal status, and the adequacy of fire extinguishing equipment.
The provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters plans to take legal action for any violations, including prosecution, fines, or administrative orders. In addition, on-site safety education will be provided to strengthen the factories' own safety management capabilities.

Through this special inspection, we will establish a culture of safety at cosmetic manufacturing factories and do our utmost to prevent similar incidents from recurring."
