View original imageThis event marked the university's first-ever Major Career Fair, organized to offer both freshmen and students from all departments an opportunity to explore and select their majors and career paths. In particular, it was a meaningful occasion for students in the newly introduced Flexible Major Selection Program (School of Engineering and School of Liberal Majors) to consider and consult about choosing their major, as well as options such as double majors, minors, and micro-majors.
A total of 29 departments (majors) participated in the event, introducing the unique characteristics and curriculum of each major, industry trends, and career case studies. Professors from each department were present at their booths to communicate directly with students, answering questions about departmental activities and major selection. In addition, various campus offices-including the Academic Affairs Team, Convergence Education Support Center, Student Welfare Team, University Student Military Education Corps, Resource Circulation Campus Initiative, and Customized Employment Services for Enrolled Students-also participated to provide a wide range of support information for students.
Interactive booths, in particular, attracted significant attention from students.
The Department of IT Mechanical Engineering exhibited the Daejin University car that competed in the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers Baja Competition, and offered hands-on experiences such as an intelligent moving target shooting game, a digital scoreboard, and remote control of a servo motor using Arduino and App Inventor.
The Department of Electrical Engineering featured activities including a reaction speed game using the ATmega128, high-voltage discharge and plasma formation experiments, electromagnetic induction experiments (magnetic gyro drop), and demonstrations of key electric vehicle components such as the On-Board Charger (OBC), Low DC-DC Converter (LDC), and Motor-Generator Set (MG Set), captivating participating students.
In addition, each department’s booth offered a variety of programs to engage students and deepen their understanding and interest in their majors, such as introductions to departmental activities, exhibitions of student works, quiz events, perfume-making experiences, and distribution of educational and promotional badges. With approximately 3,000 students attending the event, the Major Career Fair has firmly established itself as Daejin University’s signature career exploration program.
Although the large turnout led to early depletion of prepared souvenirs and some inconvenience due to waiting times, the university stated, "For next year’s fair, we plan to share best practices among departments and improve student flow to create an even more comfortable event."
