Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province to Hold 54th Gwangju Citizens' Day Event on the 28th
Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 19th that it will hold the 54th Gwangju Citizens' Day event at the Gwangju Public Stadium on the 28th.

View original imageThis year's event, held under the theme "United Through Sports," will feature an opening ceremony, sports events, cultural performances, and promotional and hands-on booths. The festival is designed to be enjoyed by all 420,000 citizens of Gwangju.
The opening ceremony will begin with a performance by a local dance team, followed by the entrance of teams from 16 towns, townships, and neighborhoods, the reading of the Citizen Charter, an awards ceremony honoring citizens' dedication and achievements, and commemorative and congratulatory speeches.
In particular, with only 200 days remaining until the 2026-2027 Gyeonggi Provincial Sports Festival, a special performance will be held to wish for the successful hosting of the upcoming event.
The sports events will include competitions between towns, townships, and neighborhoods such as tug-of-war and group jump rope, as well as a citizens' unity sports day, creating an opportunity for all citizens to come together in harmony.
The cultural program will feature a performance by the Gwangju Municipal Gwangjiwon Nongak Troupe, as well as celebratory performances by Marcus Kang, Gwangju City's ambassador, and guest singer Na Taejoo, adding to the festive atmosphere.
