Mayor Joo Kwangdeok: "Comprehensive Expansion of Local Bus Routes... Continuous Improvement of Transportation Conditions"
Namyangju City Operates 661 Bus Trips Daily in Byeollae-myeon
An Average of 3,102 Residents Use Buses in Byeollae-myeon Each Day
Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Kwangdeok) announced on the 18th that, as a result of continuously expanding bus routes in the Byeollae-myeon area, metropolitan, city, and village buses now operate a total of 661 times per day.
Byeollae-myeon is home to 17,938 residents, and the city has been consistently expanding bus routes to enhance transportation convenience for its citizens. Currently, there are 10 bus routes serving Byeollae-myeon, with 114 vehicles in operation, providing essential transportation for the community.
On average, 3,102 residents use the buses in Byeollae-myeon each day, with approximately 75% traveling toward Bulamsan Station on Seoul Subway Line 4, Taereungipgu Station on Line 7, and Seokgye Station on Line 1. The city has implemented various measures to alleviate congestion during commuting hours, reflecting the needs of its citizens.
To address these issues, a dedicated chartered vehicle was added to Village Bus No. 33-1, which connects Byeollae-myeon and Bulamsan Station, providing six additional trips per day during rush hours to ease inconvenience. In response to the frequent full capacity of the Thank You Bus No. 30, six chartered vehicles were also deployed daily on the Byeollae-myeon Cheonghak-ri to Byeollae Station section to resolve passenger overcrowding.
On April 1, the city established City Bus No. 155, operating on the same route as the discontinued Seoul Bus No. 1155, to prevent service gaps. Furthermore, on September 15, all vehicles on Bus No. 155 were replaced with eco-friendly models, including electric and CNG buses, to create a more pleasant transportation environment for citizens.
The city is also promoting policies that connect Byeollae-myeon with local subway stations.
The Thank You Bus No. 50, which connects to Byeollae Byeolgaram Station on the Jinjeop Line (Line 4) opened in March 2022, increased its fleet from 13 to 16 vehicles, reducing the interval between buses by 5 to 10 minutes. Additionally, to improve access to Byeollae Station on the Byeollae Line (Line 8), which opened in August 2024, the route of Thank You Bus No. 30 was adjusted, reducing travel time by about 5 minutes. Route adjustments between Geumgok and Sanung also shortened the interval between buses by 2 to 5 minutes.
