POSCO Group to Expand New Hires to 3,000 This Year
Creating Youth Jobs... 15,000 Hires Planned Over Five Years
POSCO Group will increase its new hires this year to around 3,000, expanding the scale beyond its original plan in order to boost youth employment.
On September 18, POSCO Group announced that it would increase its hiring target for this year from the initially planned 2,600 to 3,000, an increase of 400 positions, as part of its efforts to create more jobs for young people. The group also stated that, starting in 2026, it will expand recruitment in the fields of safety, artificial intelligence (AI), and research and development (R&D), maintaining annual new hires at a similar level to this year. Over the next five years, POSCO Group aims to create 15,000 high-quality jobs.
Until now, POSCO Group has conducted open recruitment mainly through POSCO and POSCO International. However, starting next year, it plans to expand participation to more affiliates, providing more young people with fair opportunities to apply. Since 2019, the group has supported the development of relevant skills for about 1,400 participants over six years through the "Youth AI and Big Data Academy," a public-private partnership program. Of these, around 800 have successfully found employment. The group plans to continue supporting practical, job-focused training for young people through a variety of programs, including expanding the academy and internship opportunities.
