Once open, it is expected to ease congestion on National Route 7, reduce the travel distance by 6 kilometers (from 37 km to 31 km), and shorten travel time by 20 minutes (from 39 minutes to 19 minutes). These improvements are anticipated to attract more tourists, reduce logistics costs, and revitalize local industries.
The Ganggu Bridge construction is 84.5% complete and is scheduled for completion in October next year. The Andong-Yeongdeok section of the National Route 34 road improvement project is 85.26% complete and is set to open in December this year.
During his visit, Governor Kim received a briefing on the progress of the projects and emphasized the need for active cooperation between the construction companies and the local government to ensure the safe completion of the work.
