This year, more than 50 grape entries were submitted across three varieties: Campbell Early, Kyoho, and Shine Muscat. The judging process was rigorous, including both measured evaluations such as sugar content, fruit weight, and firmness, as well as sensory assessments of color, shape, and taste.
Yang Hoongeun, who won the grand prize, cultivates various grape varieties including Campbell Early in Naechon-myeon. He has consistently produced grapes with high sugar content by maintaining optimal fruit set and precise irrigation management through systematic cultivation techniques. Steady quality control and technological innovation were key factors behind this achievement, once again proving Pocheon City's reputation as the top producer of premium grapes in Gyeonggi Province.
The head of the Horticultural and Special Crops Team at the Pocheon Agricultural Technology Center stated, "Despite worsening cultivation conditions such as heatwaves and heavy rainfall, the dedication of local farmers and ongoing field guidance have led to these results. We will continue to do our utmost to provide technical support and enhance quality for the production of high-quality grapes."
