KMI Introduces "Pre-Grievance Consultation System" to Proactively Prevent Workplace Bullying
One-on-One Anonymous Consultations with External Labor Attorneys
Promoting a Human Rights-Friendly Organizational Culture
The Korea Maritime Institute (KMI, President Cho Jeonghee) announced on the 17th that it will implement a "Pre-Grievance Consultation System" to proactively prevent workplace bullying and abuse of authority, and to strengthen the protection of employee rights.
This system allows employees to have a one-on-one consultation with a certified labor attorney before officially filing an internal grievance, so they can first determine whether their issue constitutes workplace bullying or abuse of authority. It is distinctive in that, prior to internal reporting, employees can receive legal and institutional advice as well as tailored response strategies from external experts.
Consultations can be requested through various channels, including email, phone, in-person, or online, and all processes are strictly anonymous and confidential. Another notable feature is that external labor attorneys manage the consultations independently, allowing employees to participate with confidence.
KMI expects that this will help reduce unnecessary procedures or misunderstandings and alleviate the psychological burden on employees.
Additionally, it is expected to serve as a proactive measure to mediate conflicts before they escalate and to prevent human rights violations within the organization.
