Korean National Heritage Technology Adopted as University Textbook in Central Asia
Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Uzbekistan
Officially Adopts Korean Textbook for the First Time
The National Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Uzbekistan has officially adopted a comprehensive conservation science theory book produced in Korea as an official textbook. This marks the first case in which a national heritage international development cooperation (ODA) project promoted by the Korean government has been incorporated into the curriculum of a local university.
The Cultural Heritage Administration and the National Heritage Promotion Agency held an adoption ceremony in Samarkand on the 16th (local time). The event was attended by Kim Dongha, Director of Management Planning at the National Heritage Promotion Agency, Azizjon Inogamdzhanovich, Deputy Director of the Uzbekistan Agency for Cultural Heritage, and Dilmurod Nasimov, Vice President of the university.
The textbook is a compilation of the achievements of local education conducted over several years by Korean experts, and it has been used in the ODA programs of the National Heritage Promotion Agency. This is the first time that a local university has officially adopted it as a textbook. It is being evaluated as a tangible result of not only providing support but also fostering talent and transferring technology.
The Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage is a national university established by presidential decree in 2018. Last year, it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Heritage Promotion Agency, and this year, after receiving a donation of specialized books published by the Cultural Heritage Administration, the university opened and has been operating a “Korea Corner” in its library.
Korea’s Uzbekistan national heritage ODA project was launched in 2022. With the adoption of this textbook, the achievements of the project are becoming visible, and the dissemination of Korean heritage conservation technology throughout Central Asia is expected to accelerate in the future.
