Daejeon Special Education Center Organizes Visits for Parents of Students with Disabilities to Support Career Planning
Providing Career Planning Information in Collaboration with Daejeon Vocational Competency Development Institute and Daejeon Rainbow Welfare Factory
A meaningful opportunity was provided for parents of students with disabilities to visit institutions and gain valuable information for planning their children's career paths.
The Daejeon Special Education Center organized visits for 40 parents on September 9 and 16 to the Daejeon Vocational Competency Development Institute of the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities and the Daejeon Rainbow Welfare Factory operated by the Daejeon Facilities Management Corporation.
This visitation program was designed to help parents plan their children's futures by offering up-to-date employment information through tours of training institutions and workplaces for people with disabilities.
Parents visited the Daejeon Vocational Competency Development Institute and the Daejeon Rainbow Welfare Factory, a workplace for people with disabilities, where they learned about specialized vocational training fields and facilities. The program also served as a forum for communication, allowing parents to address their questions regarding career planning.
The annual career institution visitation program targets parents of students in special schools (including middle, high school, and specialized courses).
The program included an introduction to the training programs, educational benefits, admissions information, employment cases, and facility tours at the Daejeon Vocational Competency Development Institute, as well as a business introduction and facility tour at the Daejeon Rainbow Welfare Factory, followed by a Q&A session.
Through this initiative, it is expected that the close cooperation system between families and employment support institutions for the independence of students with disabilities will be further strengthened.
A parent of a high school student who participated in the visit said, "This career institution visitation gave me a new perspective on the various career possibilities for my child," adding, "I am determined to actively support my child so that they can fully realize their abilities."
