Cambodian Worker Dies After Being Caught in Press Machine at Incheon Factory
Authorities Plan to Apply the Serious Accidents Punishment Act
A Cambodian worker in his 40s died after being caught in a machine at a metal manufacturing plant in Incheon.
According to the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s Criminal Investigation Unit on September 16, at around 2:50 p.m. that day, a Cambodian national in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, was caught in a press machine at a metal manufacturing plant located in Manseok-dong, Dong-gu, Incheon.
Although emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, Mr. A was pronounced dead at the site. Labor authorities plan to apply the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, considering that the plant employs five or more workers.
The police and fire authorities are investigating the specific circumstances surrounding the incident. It is reported that Mr. A was working on shaping a round metal rod at the time of the accident.

A police official stated, "We have requested an autopsy of Mr. A's body from the National Forensic Service and will review the internal closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to determine whether a safety manager was present, among other factors."
