Authentic Sanuki Udon and Tempura Brand
Aiming to Expand to 35 Locations Within 5 Years
On September 16, Lotte GRS announced that it has opened the Japanese authentic Sanuki udon specialty brand "Marugame Udon" on the 5th floor of Lotte World Mall in Jamsil.
Marugame Udon is a global franchise brand specializing in Sanuki udon and tempura, operating more than 1,100 stores worldwide. To ensure the noodles are chewy and elastic, the dough is kneaded and aged fresh in-store every day, adhering to a strict policy of same-day production and same-day sales. The distinctive shape of the noodles, with rounded edges and a square cross-section, allows the broth to soak in well, resulting in a rich and deep flavor. In order to replicate the same taste as in Japan, staff received udon training in Japan, and a Marugame Udon trainer from Japan will manage the store in Korea for one month before and after the opening.
The menu includes udon, rice bowls, and tempura. Customers can enjoy a total of 10 types of udon, including the signature "Nikutama Udon" with beef bulgogi and soft-boiled egg, the "Green Chili Bukkake Udon" featuring the tingling heat of green chili, Korea-exclusive menu items, Chicken & Vegetable Udon, 2 types of rice bowls, and 7 types of tempura. The open kitchen inside the store will allow customers to watch the preparation process of udon and tempura.
