Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) announced on the 16th that it has been actively implementing the "Eco-friendly Fruit School Meal Support Project" since August, targeting all 157 elementary, middle, and high schools in the city, with a total student population of 87,434.

View original imageThis project will be carried out over five months until the end of the year, with a total budget of approximately 3.4 billion won. In the first month alone, August, about 370 million won worth of fruit was supplied, ensuring that students received school meals that stably included fresh fruit.
The supplied items include domestically grown seasonal fruits such as apples, pears, tomatoes, and tangerines. Each school can select and receive the desired items through the Seongnam City School Meal Support Center.

Seongnam City expects that this project will not only contribute significantly to the healthy growth of students and improve satisfaction with school meals, but also promote the consumption of domestic fruits. Since its implementation, students, parents, and teachers have all expressed satisfaction, and the city has announced plans to secure a budget of approximately 6.9 billion won in 2026 to continue the project.
