Lotte Chilsung's Zero-Sugar Soju "Saero" Surpasses 700 Million Bottles Sold
Nearly 700 Million Bottles Sold in Just Three Years Since Launch in September 2022
Lotte Chilsung Beverage announced on September 15 that its zero-sugar soju "Saero," which debuted in September 2022, surpassed a cumulative sales volume of 700 million bottles by the end of July 2025, just ahead of its third anniversary.
Unlike conventional soju products, Saero is a zero-sugar soju made without fructose, emphasizing a refreshing and smooth taste. In addition, by proactively introducing nutritional labeling for alcoholic beverages, the product reflected consumers' heightened interest in health that has become more pronounced since the COVID-19 pandemic, attracting significant attention from the outset. Furthermore, rather than using celebrity models, Saero captured ongoing consumer interest through unique animated advertising content featuring "Saerogumi," fostering a distinctive form of engagement.
Saero's unique advertising and consumer campaigns have been recognized at various advertising award ceremonies, winning honors such as the "Korea Advertising Awards," "YouTube Works," and the "K-Design Awards." In April 2025, Saero also won a Bronze award in the Creative Strategy category at "Spikes Asia 2025," the most prestigious advertising festival in the Asia-Pacific region. More recently, the brand has operated "Saerodowon," a pop-up store combining dining experiences and collaborative marketing with nearby businesses, drawing over 40,000 visitors in about five months and receiving a strong response.
